Teaching and learning

As a professional learning community we work collectively and collaboratively to improve outcomes for students.  Our teaching and learning framework expects that,

  • Reading, Writing and Mathematics are taught explicitly four times per week through a gradual release of responsibility model -  "I do, We do and You do".  These lessons run for 60 minutes.
  • Problem-solving is taught explicitly four times per week using the SEE, DO, PLAN and CHECK model. 
  • During explicit teaching, teachers utilise the TAPPLE strategy, checking for understanding throughout the whole teaching learning process. 

Each Friday, teachers also explicitly teach the positive behaviour for learning focus, this ensures that following the whole school assembly, all staff and students are aware of expectations for learning and safe play.
